1/ What texture of foundation should I choose?
ACCORDING TO THE TEXTURE OF THE FOUNDATION
- Liquid Foundation
A liquid texture is recommended for day time make-up, for its lightness and very natural looking results. The more liquid the texture of the foundation is, the more the result is natural and transparent looking.
- Compact Foundation
For a covering, matt effect this is the ideal product. The compact texture gives a covering result. It is practical and easy to carry around with you for touch ups during the day.
ACCORDING TO THE SKIN TYPE
- Normal skin
Apply Satin Finish foundation for a light and natural look. Its texture feels comfortable on the skin.
- Oily skin
Apply a matt-finish treatment cream to avoid any hint of shine, and also to ensure that the foundation lasts all day long. Then apply a matt-finish foundation such as Masters Colors Matt Finish foundation which prevents shine.
- Dry skin
Apply a nourishing treatment cream which avoids any feeling of pulling. Then apply Satin Finish foundation or Velvet Finish foundation for optimal skin comfort all day long.
- Dehydrated skin
Apply moisturising cream for skin comfort. Satin Finish foundation or Velvet Finish foundation is perfect for this type of skin, depending on the texture sought, liquid or compact.
- Mature skin
On mature skin it is essential to apply foundation only lightly. When the layer is too thick lines and wrinkles will show up. Apply Satin Finish foundation for a natural looking finish.
ACCORDING TO THE SKIN COLOR
Choose a shade of foundation which is only slightly darker than the color of your skin, never lighter, except if you have a few wrinkles, in which case you can choose a foundation color that is the same shade as your complexion or one shade lighter. You can also mix two shades together in order to get as close as possible to the desired shade, subject to the two foundations used being of the same texture.
ADVICE
- “Caucasian type” complexion
Apply slightly golden or pinkish beige shades which will enhance the complexion.
- Light colored complexion
To avoid any difference with the natural color of the complexion, apply light beige or slightly pinkish beige shades which will blend into the skin.
- “Chinese type” complexion
Apply very light or slightly pinkish shades.
- “Oriental type” complexion
Apply golden, sienna earth beiges, which will lift the complexion.
- Tanned complexion
Apply tone on tone foundation or a tinted base to even up your tan and make it more radiant.
- Redhead complexion
Apply amber or transparent shades to illuminate the face.
2/ How do I test the color of a foundation?
To choose the color of foundation that is most appropriate for your complexion apply the shade directly to your jawbone. If you are already wearing make-up, apply a dab to your neck. Never try the shade on your hand.
3/ Choice of shade depending on the season
The ideal is to use two colors of the same type of foundation, one which is lighter, for the winter and the other, darker, for the summer. These can also be mixed to adapt to the depth of your tan.
4/ How do I apply foundation?
First remove any trace of make-up and protect your skin with a treatment cream suited to your skin type. Then place a drop of foundation in the hollow of your hand and warm up the texture with your fingertip. Then apply the texture lightly to the face, in small dabs. Spread out the foundation with a slightly dampened sponge. Starting from the tip of the nose move upwards to the forehead through to the roots of the hair, then under the eyes, cheeks and chin. The nose should be taken as the start-point and the foundation blended in using light outwards movements. Use a tissue to blend in the foundation at the hair roots to avoid any mark line.
